Let’s get some electric over here

Pardon me? An all electric van? Who would’ve thought! Yet, it is exactly what Ford has come up with to replace Britain’s most popular and bestselling vehicle in the UK (yes folks, the beloved Ford Transit Van). Obviously, a lot of effort has gone into improving the EV (electric vehicle) market but as we are all aware, it had to start somewhere (one small step for cars, one giant leap for vans). The noisy old transits will be a thing of the past as the newer, electric versions replace the older models because manufacturers must keep up with the need to improve on air quality and vehicle emissions. They just don’t stop (thankfully) trying to improve on this. Great stuff.

So, just what have Ford been up to?

Well, they will be looking to push four new commercial vans into the market by 2024 although they are realistic enough to understand that not everyone is in a position to switch to electric motors, even though running costs are considerably lower than diesel.  However, the E-Transit, as it is known, has a 196 mile capacity which should comfortably get the driver from A to B and then on to C – Charging point. Considering there are now more than 42 000 charge point connectors throughout the UK in over 15 000 locations, an increase of around 35% since April last year, the chances of being caught without power are very slim indeed. A point to bear in mind though is that some vans don’t cover quite as many miles; it does depend on battery size.

What else has changed?

You’ll no doubt be relieved to know the answer is – not much has changed to the design of the Transit Van. Some things are just best left alone. So from the outside, it looks like a Transit Van. Under the bonnet and the interior though, you’ll notice a lot of differences. It also will come as no surprise to find that the competition have been doing their homework too and Fiat, Renault, Citroen, Peugeot and Vauxhall have all got their very own electric vans. Plenty of choice if you are looking to replace or buy new. Insurance costs will vary so you need to do your homework if you are looking at investing in a new van (or indeed renewing your insurance). That is, of course, why you are here, right?! Excellent choice, so get cracking and see how much you could save with us on cheap van insurance deals. Get started by filling out our 3-minute form. Yes, really, just 3 minutes is all it will take! What are you waiting for?

From Delivery Driver to Superhero

Now, you delivery lot are always receiving praise from us.

We think you go above and beyond in your jobs, every day.

Day after day, you go above and beyond in your work.

Especially in the past couple of years in the midst of a pandemic.

But today, we see how some of you take that extra step, moving closer to becoming superheroes.

Today, we’re excited to salute a true superhero from Edinburgh.

A dedicated ASDA delivery driver, specifically from the Dunbar branch.

Mr Mark Beggs has been cheered as a hero as he used his former soldier training to help save a Transit Van driver after a horrendous crash.

Mr Beggs had only been working with the ASDA branch for some weeks before this happened.

He used quick thinking, remained calm, and did all he could to help save the van driver.

Basically, he was the type of superhero everyone would want around in times like this.

What Happened?

Mr Beggs was in the delivery van behind the unfortunate van driver, who swerved into a barrier.

While waiting for the ambulances, Mr. Beggs assessed the situation.

With the timely help of a nurse who happened to be passing by, he quickly went into superhero mode.

First, he grabbed a tool from his van, typically used to cut cardboard.

Using it with precision, he managed to cut through the seatbelt that had been restricting the driver’s breathing.

Fortunately, the driver regained consciousness as soon as they cut the belt.

Fueled by a surge of adrenaline, he quickly escaped the car.

However, this led to the poor driver collapsing.

Mr. Marks Gebbs and the off-duty nurse stayed with the van driver until the ambulance arrived.

Amongst all this, Mr Gebbs somehow managed to find time to keep his waiting customers updated!

Yep, it completely flabbergasted us too…

Truly a display of pure excellence from this brave man—and, of course, the nurse! As for Mark Grebbs…

We salute you!

Naturally, we’d love to hear about other superhero delivery drivers out there…

Do you have anyone in mind?

Or have you experienced something similar?

Let us shower you with praise…

Until then, the one thing we can gift you is cheap van insurance quotes.

A quick 3-minute form is all it takes.

No faff or headache required, thank you very much!

Transit Drivers, Get Ready for Smart Mirrors

Why Ford’s New Smart Mirror Is A Game-Changer For Van Drivers

When you’re behind the wheel of a van, you often have a limited view behind.

Even with side mirrors, there’s always that lingering question: is something lurking just out of sight?

Whether it’s a cyclist, a pedestrian, or a car sneaking up behind, these blind spots create real challenges.

But here’s the good news:

Ford has developed a solution to make driving safer and easier.

They call it the Smart Mirror.

Meet The Ford Smart Mirror

Ford’s Smart Mirror is designed specifically for their Transit vans and Transit Custom vans.

Unlike regular mirrors, this one shows a live video feed from the back of your van.

You might ask, why does this matter?

Most vans have limited rear visibility—especially when loaded with cargo or missing rear windows.

Blind spots can make driving tricky, especially for van drivers.

With the Smart Mirror, you’ll see exactly what’s behind your van in real-time, giving you peace of mind.

How Does It Work?

The Smart Mirror replaces the standard rearview mirror with a digital display.

A camera mounted on the van’s rear door sends a live feed directly to the mirror.

This setup allows you to monitor everything trailing behind your van without obstructions.

Even if your van has opaque rear doors or a packed cargo area, the view stays clear.

And there’s more.

Automatic Brightness Control For Any Time Of Day

The Smart Mirror adjusts brightness automatically.

This means no more struggling with glare from the sun or dim lighting at night.

You’ll always have a clear view, whether it’s daylight or dusk.

Twice The View Of A Standard Mirror

Ford’s Smart Mirror offers double the visual range of a typical rearview mirror.

This increased range means more visibility and a better sense of your surroundings.

And when you’re aware of what’s around you, you can drive with more confidence.

What’s The Cost Ff Enhanced Safety?

Like any advanced tech, the Smart Mirror isn’t cheap.

If you’re interested, be prepared for a price tag of around £675.

Yes, it’s an investment, but for the added safety and visibility, many drivers may find it worth every penny.

How To Save On Van Insurance And Upgrade Your Safety

Considering the Smart Mirror?

You might want to start by reducing other expenses—like your van insurance.

With savings on insurance, you could invest in this cutting-edge mirror, adding an extra layer of safety to your daily drive.

Safety on the road starts with visibility.

And with Ford’s Smart Mirror, you’ll have more of it than ever before.

Save on your van insurance costs with us here, and perhaps you can use the rest of your savings on a brand-new sparkling Smart Mirror.

27% of Accidents Caused by This Van Brand

Van drivers are a predictable bunch. They pack their ham sandwiches and flasks of tea and get road rage at 8:25am every morning.

In between eating their lunch and honking their horn…they also get into accidents. Sad but true. But if there was no accidents there would be no need for van insurance, and that would mean…

Cheap Van Insurance wouldn’t exist And we can’t have that, can we?

So van accidents are here to stay, and there is one particular brand of van that is right at the top of the accident Premier League.

The award goes to…

Ford.

That’s right, if you drive a Ford van then according to a recent survey you are most likely out of all van drivers to be involved in a pile up or fender bender.

The survey shows us that 27% of accidents are caused by a Ford.

More specifically, it is the Ford Transit which is the number 1 culprit…

And even more specifically, it is the…yes you guessed it…

The WHITE Ford Transit van.

In other words, the WHITE Van Man.

When will they ever learn? Never if you ask me.

We should have guessed it though shouldn’t we? Did we really need to look at the survey to know that white van owners would be making an appearance right at the top of the list? We could have easily guessed the outcome.

That’s not to say all white van drivers are out of control and back to the “Summer of Rage,” but as the weather starts to turn frosty and chilly, I reckon some white van drivers need to chill out a bit.

What better way to chill right out than by spending a bit of quality time on our 3 minute form.

White Van Men On Tour Get GREEN LIGHT

Rage, discontent, and anger. These are all words that could have described your average white van man after Brexit happens.

Especially those white van owners who like to go “on tour.” Off they go, North, South, East, and West. Driving in their vans to go to far away lands, for business and pleasure.

It was thought that Brexit might have put a halt to these regular jaunts. A big RED LIGHT was expected to be staring each and every white van owner in the face, and, as we all know, when white van men are hindered in some way then the result is usually…all out destruction.

Initially, experts predicted that UK van insurance would no longer be valid on the roads of our European neighbours

That means if a British white van just wanted to go for a casual drive in the French countryside, then it would quickly be scanned by French Police.

“Monsieur..Monsieur..pas de taxes” they would be shouting.

A night in French prison would no doubt be in store for the white van man, which would probably push them to the brink.

Fortunately, this is not going to happen, due to the fact that it’s just been announced that UK van insurance will be accepted in the EU after Brexit has happened.

If you are stopped on the roads of France, Germany, Spain, or Rome…

Then all you need to do is show them Cheap Van Insurance on your smartphone…

and they will instantly leave you alone.

“It’s okay, I’m with CVI,” you say.

“Danke,” the German traffic police would say after they pulled you over on the Autobahn.

No fuss, no hassle, and no rage. Just a GREEN LIGHT for every white van owner in the country to go “on tour” and not get in any bother.

It could have been a lot different though. A Green card system had been proposed by European chiefs and an extra £10 fee to get European van insurance for UK drivers.

“Hola, tarjeta verde por favor ” the Spanish Police would say after pulling over the traditional UK white Ford Transit van.

“You what mate?” the white van driver would say…getting a bit hot under the collar.

“Tarjeta verde… AHORA!!“” the Spanish police would demand.

Who knows what would happen after that? We all know how white van men have, in the past, been unleashed and unchained, to the point where car doors have been ripped clean off.

Right now everybody is friends, and our white van drivers can move forward to the continent with a good mood and CVI on their phone.

White Van “Night of Terror” in Hartlepool

A quiet night in Hartlepool soon led to a “night of terror” for one family. Who was to blame? Yes, you guessed it…the white van man.

Just when will they learn? Never, In my opinion.

Cheap Van Insurance enthusiasts will be well aware of how white van drivers have been attempting to make a new start for themselves in places such as Nevada and Siberia. That didn’t work out very well, and now…they are back on UK roads.

Such as this night in Hartlepool, where, at 1:45am in the morning the only sound was of the occasional milk float busy with a round of deliveries or those crafty but educated van thieves “tricking” their way into vans.

Then, all of a sudden, and without warning…a CRASH, and the sound of broken glass, and then it was all out WAR in that quiet Hartlepool neighbourhood.

A white van man war you must understand, where the van is the weapon, so to speak, and the only reason for battle is rage and discontent.

Actually, there is a bit more backstory to this particular incident, but to make a long story short it had something to do REVENGE.

That’s right. The driver of the white Ford transit van believed that his cousin was being treated badly by her boyfriend. So, instead of applying to be on the Jeremy Kyle show so they could battle it out on national television, he decided to take matters into his own hands and seek out a BATTLE on the streets of Hartlepool

The first act of battle was to crash into the Volkswagen Golf parked outside the house of the boyfriend. This was the sound of broken glass that woke everyone up.

In no time at all everyone in the house was outside in the front yard, still in their pyjamas, and then…the second act of battle…drive directly at everybody in front of you.

That is exactly what this particular white van driver did…he drove at the three people who were standing outside of the house and then pinned them up against the wall with his van.

One of those pinned up against the wall was the boyfriend of the van drivers cousin, and the other two were his mother and his friend.

A neighbour who witnessed all of this unfolding described the scene as “terrifying.”

Fortunately, it didn’t go any further, and the white van man cooled down enough to put his Ford transit in reverse and then drive off into the night.

Not surprisingly, the Police soon caught up with him, and then a few months later he had his day in court.

An 8 month suspended sentence is what he got for that night of terror, as well as a 2 year driving ban, a fine of £2500 and £340 costs.

Not only that, but the white van man, who already had van insurance costs of £5000 a year due to a previous conviction of drink driving, said that he expected to see his insurance costs hit £15,000 a year once back on the roads.

£15,000 is a lot, no doubt, but if you do the crime then you must pay the price.

Of course, for white van men and women the only place to get your van insurance is right here at the Nations Favourites. See how much you could save by filling out the simple 3 minute form.

White Van Men On Tour – Europe Edition

Not content with causing destruction on the roads of the UK, the white van man is now on tour, across the channel and in Europe.

To countries such as France, Germany, Poland, and Russia they go, sometimes to make deliveries and sometimes just to go for a scenic drive, maybe do a bit of business on the side. Business and pleasure.

I’ve reported before of course on how all British van drivers need to get a special sticker before entering the country of France.

Just stick it on your windscreen and you won’t be bothered by the French police, but ignore their laws and you will soon see those flashing lights in the rear view mirror.

Would that set off the average white van man on tour? Seeing the red, white and blue of the French police waving for them to “pull over, monsieur, je m’apelle.”

It could very well be a return to the scenes from the summer of rage and winter of unrest, where white van men, so to speak, were unchained and unleashed…only this time it would be on the roads of France.

Not only that, but let’s not forget that our French cousins drive on the other side of the road. Confusion could very much win the day when your average white van pulls out from Calais. Could that confusion then turn to all out rage? It very well could do.

The main thing all British van drivers should check is that they are fully covered by their insurance company to drive abroad before setting off from home.

You might have to pay extra to make sure your overseas van insurance cover is all in order, and if your renewal is coming up then perhaps it is time to switch to a cheaper deal, one that includes overseas insurance for your van.

The comparison website of choice for the average white van owner is of course The Nations Favourite. The place where comparing companies and getting quotes is as easy as making a flask of tea.

You can even access Cheap Van Insurance from any European country, so for any white van driver that is currently on tour and needs to sort out their insurance, you know where to go.

It’s much better to come here rather than being taken to a European prison, which is what could happen if you don’t have the correct insurance.

The Russian Police, for example, are always on the lookout for international commercial drivers AKA British white van men, and if you are not prepared to slip them a few rubles then you might just find yourself down the local gulag.

Sure, the white van man would resist at first, he might even get very hot under the collar in the freezing temperatures of Siberia, but then, in no time at all he would be overpowered, much like a polar bear being taken down by a pack of wolves.

The Siberian wilderness is a lonely place to be for white ford transit drivers, every day doing hard labour and eating soup of the day for lunch. No ham sandwiches on the menu.

It would be a time for the white van man to learn their lesson if you ask me. To turn over a new leaf and keep their temper in check. Until they are released, back to the UK…
